PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS TO JOIN IN GREGYNOG FESTIVAL CELEBRATIONS

Around 60 primary school children from the Newtown and Caersws areas will join in the 75th anniversary celebrations at Gwyl Gregynog Festival on Wednesday
The annual festival Schools Day on June 18 will feature a programme of exciting workshops for year six primary school children led by Montgomeryshire folk singer and harpist Siân James, Eleri Wyn Evans from the National Museum Wales and John Sewell from the world famous Gregynog Press.
This year, pupils from Ysgol Rhiw Bechan, Tregynon, Caersws Primary School and Ysgol Dafydd Llwyd, Newtown are taking part.
Schools Day is an integral part of the festival, which is held at Gregynog, the splendid former home of sisters Gwendoline and Margaret Davies, on the fringe of the village of Tregynon, near Newtown. Every year, schools from different parts of Montgomeryshire are invited to attend the free day.
An extra special programme of concerts, lectures, exhibitions, displays and outreach events has been organised this year to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the famous festival, which runs from June 13-22.
Gregynog Young Musician of the Year contest, organised by the Friends of Gregynog Festival, is being held on June 28, with a £1,000 prize for the winner.
